Suspended deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has told the Madlanga Commission that numerous dockets investigated by the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) were untouched for years.

Sibiya presented evidence before the inquiry related to an audit of 121 dockets taken from the PKTT last year.

The dockets were transferred to SAPS headquarters in Pretoria, while plans to disband the PKTT were set in motion.

Sibiya believes the PKTT is not all that they're being cut out to be.

He claims they’re not as successful as KZN police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhanazi, and his allies, Fannie Masemola and Dumisani Khumalo, have painted them out to be.

Sibiya read out the audit findings related to 121 dockets that were taken away from the PKTT and brought to SAPS headquarters in Pretoria last year.

"Only 18% of the dockets reflect a last day of investigation in 2025. A further 21% recorded a last day of investigation in 2024 and a further 22% recorded a last day of investigation as far back as 2023."

The dockets were held at the SAPS headquarters for five months before being returned to the PKTT in August last year.
