Judge Portia Phahlane has until next Friday to make submissions to the Judicial Conduct Committee, which will determine if there’s prima facie evidence of wrongdoing on her part.

Judges Matter’s Mbekezeli Benjamin said Phahlane is likely to face a gross misconduct charge, which could lead to impeachment
“Especially because the allegation is gross misconduct in the form of corruption and bribery, so this will be a process similar to the one followed with Judge Mbenenge, which will be a tribunal with witnesses and cross-examination and might lead to a finding of gross misconduct and then a process of impeachment.”
