Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga says his next mission is to help turn the party into South Africa’s biggest political party.

Msimanga has entered the race for a national leadership position ahead of the party’s congress in April.

He announced on Friday that he has accepted a nomination to contest the position of federal chairperson.

Msimanga said the party’s next leadership collective must ensure the DA overtakes the African National Congress (ANC) in national vote share.

"Now we have an opportunity, and this is why I’m putting up my hand. This time we will do it. This time, as a leadership collective, we will be able to do it," said Msimanga.
