MultiChoice announces decision to discontinue Showmax

MultiChoice has announced its decision to discontinue the Showmax service.

While no time frame has been given on when this will happen, the company said this reflects its focus on strengthening its overall digital offering in an increasingly competitive streaming environment.

The Showmax business has been marred by substantial annual losses.

In a statement released on Thursday morning, Showmax assured that there will be no immediate interruption of its existing service.

“Showmax subscribers are a priority for us, and we are working on plans to ensure clear communication and a smooth transition when the time comes. We will share further details well in advance, including timelines and any further steps, should they be required,” read the statement.
