Controversial North West businessman and African National Congress (ANC) backer Suleiman Carrim has accused Brown Mogotsi of deceiving him by suggesting he had political influence.
Carrim said he believed Mogotsi would help him recoup the over R8 million he's owed by suspected crime boss, Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala.
Testifying before the Madlanga Commission on Monday, Carrim said he invested R10 million in Matlala's Medicare24 company, but never received all of his money back.
Carrim said he has known Mogotsi for over 15 years.
They are both from Mahikeng in the North West and move around ANC circles.
Carrim said when Medicare24's SAPS tender was terminated, he turned to Mogotsi to help him recoup the rest of his R10 million investment from Matlala.

He said Mogotsi advised him to threaten Matlala by claiming he had influence within the police ministry.
"Every undertaking promised by Brown to meet with the minister or his office did not transpire. With hindsight, I believe Brown was lying about the influence he had. I, myself, have no direct relationship with the minister."
Carrim said he is still owed over R8 million by Matlala's company.
