The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says its pickets at the Constitutional Court, calling for the release of the Phala Phala farm judgment, are not an electioneering ploy.

The party took the matter to the apex court last year after Parliament dismissed a report that found President Cyril Ramaphosa may have violated the Constitution.

It relates to the large sums of foreign currency found at his Limpopo farm in 2020.

The EFF embarked on a march on Wednesday, citing that they are committed to protesting every month till the release of the report.

Gauteng EFF  spokesperson Dumisani Baleni said every institution in the country must work for the people, which is why they keep putting pressure on the courts.

"It speaks to impeachment, which means if he is found guilty, the president may be a process of removal."

He adds that the matter is not personal but about upholding the Constitution of the country.

"It speaks to the principles that must be applied to the whole country, if you are not able to hold the president accountable, you cannot hold the premier, mayor, councillors and the next thing we are living in a broken society. "
