Retired deputy national commissioner Francinah Vuma has accused former minister Bheki Cele and National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola of forcing her out of the police.

She said she was targeted by Cele over a police contract that was awarded to MTN instead of Vodacom, and also accused him of being part of a plot to eliminate her.

Vuma, who was the Deputy National Commissioner for Support Services, was giving her testimony before the ad hoc committee investigating police corruption allegations.

Cele has been implicated by yet another witness before the ad hoc committee.

Vuma is the latest witness to accuse Cele of wrongdoing.

She said Cele accused her of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) corruption to get back at her over a police cellphone contract that was awarded to one of the country's major networks.

She said Cele accused her of working with Deputy Minister Cassel Mathale on the tender despite it being approved by supply chain.

"They finally recommended for approval MTN. Now the minister was accusing me with regards to that... why the contract was given to MTN because MTN did not have the infrastructure," Vuma said.

After her suspension, Vuma said Masemola offered her early retirement on condition that she withdraw all allegations, but she refused the offer because she wanted to clear her name.
