Mercury rising: Capetonians 'melt' as temperatures soar over 40

A sudden heatwave in Cape Town has people going quite crazy on social media.

Primedia's Digital Content Editor Barbara Friedman says her feed is lit up with talk about the weather and images of car dashboards.

"These are records that are being broken in our city."

Various areas have reported temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius.
