Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another was the big winner at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday night, taking home six awards.
The satirical action-thriller won awards for Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actor (Sean Penn), Adapted Screenplay, Editing, and the first-ever award for Casting.
Entertainment reporter Caryn Welby-Solomon said the win was a long time coming for Anderson, who has 14 nominations under his belt, and this was his first win.
“For any film fan, to finally see him up there since Boogie Nights and being nominated.”

Following closely behind was Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which entered the night as the most nominated film ever with a record 16 nods.
The period thriller won four awards, for Best Actor (Michael B Jordan), Original Screenplay, Original Score and, for Cinematography, making Autumn Dural Arkapaw the first-ever female winner of the award.
"She's a woman of colour, and to come this far and pick up the top prize was a great achievement for the film,” said Welby-Solomon.
