Government has appointed an administrator to oversee the daily operations of the Ingonyama Trust Board on Wednesday, which is responsible for vast tracts of land held in trust in KwaZulu-Natal.
The decision followed the recent resignation of two members from the board, leaving it with only four, which is below the required quorum.
The board, chaired by Zulu monarch King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, is in charge of almost 3 million hectares of land held in the province.
It generates millions of rands through leases.

For years, the controversial Ingonyama Trust Board has been marred by allegations of maladministration.
Since his ascension to the throne, King Misuzulu made changes to the chairmanship, citing concerns about traditional leaders playing little to no role on the board.
Land Reform and Rural Development Minister Mzwanele Nyhontso said following the recent exit of board members, operations were unsustainable.
