Hlophe was suspended in November last year after being accused of making decisions without consulting the party’s president, Jacob Zuma.
While Zuma was on a trip to Burkina Faso, Hlophe fired Colleen Makhubele as the party’s parliamentary chief whip, however, that decision was later reversed when the former state president returned from his travel.
Des Van Rooyen had been acting as the party's parliamentary leader.
