A Cape Town man will be placed on the National Register for sex offenders.
The 48-year-old was convicted of attempted murder, multiple counts of rape, kidnapping, and the assault of his partner.
He's been sentenced to 18 years in prison.
NPA Spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said the abuse ran from 2019 to 2020.
"The accused had been awaiting trial for the past four years and six months. The court has declared him unfit to possess a firearm. Western Cape Director of Public Prostitution's Advocate Nicolette Bell condemned the brutal misogynistic behaviour of the accused towards a woman he professed to love," said Ntabazalila.
The man was also convicted of malicious damage to property during a jealous fit of rage.
Ntabazalila added, "A count of malicious injury to property. The court sentenced him to a total of 31 years direct imprisonment but ordered some of the sentences to run concurrently."
