WATCH: Real possum hides out among plush toys in airport gift shop

It's probably any child's dream - to find an adorable, real animal on the shelf amongst the plush toys.

And that's exactly what happened in an airport gift shop in Tasmania, Australia.

A wild possum was spotted sheltering amongst some similar-looking Aussie marsupials that were, of course, just fluffy soft toys.

Apparently, an observant passenger reported the 'plushy' with the limpid eyes to a staff member, who escalated the unusual problem up the chain of command.

The imposter did not seem distressed, according to airport management.

"Our team ensured the little visitor was safely escorted. It wasn't stressed - just another day of adventuring", they told CNN.

Staff relocated the creature out of the terminal area and ensured the space was cleaned. 

It's not known how the possum got into the store and how long it had been there before detection.
