Motorists are being urged to avoid Owen Street and the area around the building to allow various officials, who are investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire has destroyed all of the building's 11 floors, but the full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.

King Sabatha Dalindyebo Municipality spokesperson Olwethu Mabovula said, “However, there are plans to close the road that side. In fact, it’s not the entire road; it’s just that precinct, which will be the Owen Street, since there will be lots of activities that will be happening.”
