Wares abused Stephen when he was a 12-year-old grade 5 pupil at the school in 1988.
The court rejected Wares’ defence that he did not remember the complainant and could not have harmed him.
Stephen told the court that Wares would stop him in school corridors, pretend to help him tuck in his shirt, and then touch him inappropriately.
He also testified that Wares would act aggressively and behave in a sexually inappropriate manner towards him.
Stephen said he hopes other victims will also find justice.
"I don’t know whether to cry or not. I feel so relieved. It’s been 35 years, and finally justice has been served."
Wares also faces 90 charges linked to the abuse of more than 60 boys in Scotland five decades ago.
