ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has intensified his call for the mass deportation of undocumented foreign nationals, joining hundreds of demonstrators in Durban on Wednesday.
The protest, described as a citizen-led movement, saw marchers take to the streets to demand the immediate arrest of illegal immigrants across South Africa.
Mashaba stated that his party joined the demonstration to fill a vacuum left by a government that has been too slow to act.
He said that the presence of undocumented individuals is directly linked to rising crime rates and the erosion of local communities.
"These illegal undocumented foreigners coming to our country, they go into our communities bringing drugs, bringing the counterfeits, expired goods. They rape our children because they come here without their wives. So, I think I’m really overwhelmed by the spirit of South Africans, the marginalised, the poor, who are saying enough is enough."
The movement has vowed to pressure authorities for stricter border controls and more aggressive law enforcement interventions regarding immigration status.
