Double murder accused set to appear in court

A 34-year-old man is expected to appear before court in connection with the murder of an elderly couple in The Crags near Plettenberg Bay.

Police say the bodies of a 71-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man were discovered on a farm in Glen Loerie on Wednesday. 

The discovery follows reports of a Mercedes-Benz seen speeding along the R339 towards Uniondale.

Southern Cape police spokesperson Christopher Spies said the suspect was arrested after his car overturned.

He said officers traced the car to the suspect's address, where they found the victims.

"Both victims sustained multiple injuries. A coordinated effort between police and community safety structures led to the pursuit of the identified vehicle. A 34-year-old suspect was arrested, and he will appear in court once charged."
