During this period, Bombela Concession will continue to manage the Gautrain under a contractual holdover agreement.

The bidder, if successful, will be tasked with operating, maintaining, refurbishing, upgrading and modernising the high-speed rail system.

Gautrain Spokesperson Albi Modise has assured passengers that services will continue without interruption.

"Looking ahead, the next phase under a new concessionaire will prioritise enhancing the passenger experience through modernised technology and improved amenities, transforming stations and surrounding precincts into integrated hubs for business, retail, and social activities through transit-oriented development and introducing more flexible and dynamic pricing to improve affordability and accessibility."
