Alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack is set to return to the dock in the Western Cape High Court on Monday.

Modack faces a slew of charges - including murder, extortion, fraud and money laundering - related to operating a criminal enterprise.

The charges include the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear, who was shot dead outside his Bishop Lavis home in September 2020.

Modack is set to return to the witness stand for his attorney, Advocate Bashier Sibda, to re-examine the State's case against his client.

Among the 122 charges he faces, Modack is accused of ordering co-accused Zane Kilian to illegally track Kinnear before his murder.

The case also links Modack to the murder of Nicolaas Heerschap, the father of a former Hawks officer, who was shot dead outside his Melkbosstrand home.

Other charges include the attempted murders of prominent criminal defence attorney William Booth and alleged underworld figure Andre Naudé.

Modack has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges, insisting he's the target of a conspiracy involving corrupt cops and his underworld rivals.
