Joburg City Power has welcomed the arrest of three suspects linked to a group that stormed and disrupted an inner-city service delivery centre this week.
The group was protesting an unplanned power outage in Bezuidenhout Valley, caused by a faulty cable reported on Monday.
City Power has said it kept affected customers informed throughout the outage.
However, the group allegedly forced its way into the service centre, disrupted operations, and damaged municipal property while demanding technicians be sent out immediately.
Spokesperson Isaac Mangena praised staff for their response and thanked police for making swift arrests.
He said the group’s actions placed employees at serious risk.
"During the altercation, the suspects damaged office chairs, photo frames, and a door handle. City Power’s security and risk management services immediately contacted the South African police service. Officers responded promptly, dispersed the disruptive group, and arrested the three identified suspects," said Mangena.
Mangena has confirmed that power has since been fully restored to the area.
