JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has criticised the party's former caucus leader in the City of Cape Town, Banele Majingo, for his decision to join the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Majingo made an unexpected move on Thursday, resigning from the ANC and joining the DA just before the city’s council meeting.
In his resignation letter, Majingo said he was leaving the ANC because he believed more in the DA's commitment to clean governance.
Mbalula labeled Majingo as a disingenuous leader.
"Anyone in the Western Cape who says he is leaving the ANC because the DA is better and is serving the poor is not only delusional but is also disingenuous. It is a reflection on them because they are living on untruths and they will be haunted by that."
