Botswana wins gold, makes history at 4x400m relay at World Champs

The rain did not dampen Botswana’s momentum over the weekend as they made history at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The blue quartet in the men’s 4x400m relay snatched an impressive win, edging out the United States and South Africa to become the first African winners of the event.
The three nations produced a photo finish that had audiences on the edge of their seats.
Botswana’s winning team include Lee Eppie, Bayapo Ndori, Busang Kebinatshipi and Olympic gold medalist Letsile Tebogo.

Lythe Pillay, Udeme Okon, Zakithi Nene, and Wayde van Niekerk ended an eight-year drought for Team South Africa with a spot on the podium in this event.
This marked a sensational comeback for Van Niekerk, who won his first world championship medal in eight years.
