The 2025 edition of Ride Joburg takes over the city on Sunday, 26 October.

Over 20,000 riders are expected to take to the streets of Johannesburg for one of the world’s largest timed cycle races.

“I always enjoy the time of year, that type of summer, the jacaranda trees, and the chance to ride on the roads of Johannesburg without any cars is always a highlight,” says inaugural winner and cycling coach Nic White.

His biggest recommendation to cyclists gearing up for the race is to continue riding during the lead-up.

Stick to light riding over shorter distances.

Also, make sure all your gear is in good condition and working perfectly. If something needs replacing, do it and test it out before the day.

“It’s a tough event; Joburg is not flat, it is pretty lumpy, and you have got your work cut out for you,” says White.
