JOHANNESBURG - Members of the media have been urged to carry on the torch held by the late Tshidi Madia, a reminder of the important role journalists play in society.
Speaking at her memorial service, held at her home in Germiston on Saturday, Reverend Mzwandile Molo said Madia’s legacy must inspire journalists to pursue every story with truth, passion, and tenacity.
Madia, who was EWN’s associate politics editor, passed away in hospital earlier this week after a short illness.
Reverend Molo said that she will be remembered as one of the country’s most formidable political journalists.
"We've lived to see what happens when journalists decide not to stand for the truth and become too immersed in power struggle games, and how they betray the honesty and the owner of their profession as they seek to be find easy access to power and money and have seen those who stood for the truth and sent themselves this story looks juicy but this story has no foundation to be published therefore i will not publish it.
