Devastating crash leads to five deaths in Cato Ridge, KZN

JOHANNESBURG - Five people have been killed in a single car crash on Eddie Hagen Drive in Cato Ridge, North of Durban, on Sunday morning.
It is understood that the driver lost control and rammed the vehicle into a concrete drain on the side of the road, splitting the car in half.
Six people were travelling in the vehicle, with only one surviving the accident.
The passenger is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. It is alleged that the family of six was rushing to a local clinic after one of their own was assaulted.
Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics said the road had been closed to traffic.
"Paramedics arrived on scene to find total carnage. They found the vehicle has basically split in half. "
Paramedics worked on two patients on the scene however, one went into a state of cardiac arrest and was declared dead.
Five people were confirmed dead on the scene.
