Ekurhuleni mayor quashes claims metro’s service delivery declining under his watch

JOHANNESBURG - Ekurhuleni Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana has quashed claims suggesting service delivery in the metro has seen a decline since he was elected to the position.
Ngodwana is facing an ActionSA-sponsored motion of no confidence vote against him.

According to the party, the mayor is the reason services are deteriorating in Ekurhuleni.
Ngodowana was set to face a no-confidence vote in council earlier in the week, but the sitting was adjourned for legal recommendations on amendments to the motion.
The mayor said his administration had made strides in improving service delivery.
“We have been working, cleaning the city that was collapsed by the DA [Democratic Alliance] and the ActionSA. This motion has nothing to do with service delivery, it’s just a grandstanding of the DA and politics of council.”
