CAPE TOWN - There's some glimmer of hope for people who lost their homes in the recent Cape storm and fires.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said emergency building housing kits had started arriving from Johannesburg.
Thousands of informal settlement structures were destroyed by fires, gale-force winds and heavy downpours across the metro.
Hill-Lewis said he was pleased that the affected people would be able to rebuild their homes.
"I immediately wrote to the national minister to say thank-you very much this is what we have been hoping for, it has arrived and now we need to see a constant flow, we need many more trucks.
"Our offer is that we will store them safely and we will distribute them when there are disasters, so it won't be handed out to everyone who asks."
