End of an era: Beloved soapie ‘Scandal!’ cancelled after two decades

After two decades, the curtain is coming down on one of Mzansi’s most popular soapies, Scandal!.
E.tv confirmed the television show has been cancelled and won’t be renewed after the current season, following a review of its programming.
“We believe that Scandal! has reached the end of its life cycle,” e.tv said in a statement.
The final episode will air in June 2026, concluding over 20 years of continuous broadcast.
“E.tv would like to sincerely thank the millions of loyal fans who have welcomed Scandal! into their homes over the years and supported it in becoming one of the most successful long-running soap operas in South African television history.”
Fans of the show took to social media to share messages of gratitude and heartbreak about the show ending.
