Kfm 94.5' s Tracey Lange speaks to Anne Siroky, Founder and Managing Director of 'The Future Factory', MC, Motivational Speaker, Coach, and Mentor.
Listen below:
At 65 years old, Siroky continues to inspire with a legacy of excellence in both sport and community upliftment.
Despite being born with clubbed feet and a doctor telling her mom that she'd never play sports, at 19 years old, Siroky took up volleyball and was legendary at it as she ended up at the Beach Volleyball World Championships.
Volleyball is where Siroky thrived, and she was, for a time, South Africa's number one beach volleyball player, receiving multiple awards.
At 23, Siroky also took up basketball after dabbling with soccer when she was 16.
"'n Driekuns vir Anne Siroky" is what article headlines read about her, she reminisces.
Siroky says she went back to the Doctor, who said she could never play sports with clubbed feet after losing her 'Forest Gump' shoes and achieving in sports.
After retiring from her volleyball career, she founded, in February 2021, The Future Factory, a non-profit organisation.
As sport played an integral part in her life, Siroky decided to embark on bringing sport to schools through Olympic sport codes and sports development. She strives for all children to have the chance to play and have fun.
"... I've probably been to every school in the Western Cape, putting sports coaches in school because our ethos at The Future Factory is making, moulding, shaping and education through sports...'
- Anne Siroky, The Future Factory
Siroky continues her humanitarian work and is a living legacy through her sports coaching, playing and all her work while making, moulding and shaping athletes to reach their full potential.
However, Siroky's journey wasn't always smooth-sailing. She is a cancer survivor who uses her platform to inspire others to conquer adversity.
Siroky's journey is proof that passion and purpose make a lasting impact as she leads with strength, spirit, and heart.
She plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and leaves on 29 November to embark on the journey with an organisation called Ready Set Go, which has donated R50,000 to her trip. Siroky is still short about R30,000 - if you can donate, head to The Future Factory for more details.
