SANParks has announced the opening of more hiking trails after the devastating fires in the central and southern parts of Table Mountain National Park.
The national parks body launched an aerial survey on Thursday, and is busy with a ground assessment of fire damage in Silvermine after weather conditions on Friday prevented the conclusion of the aerial assessment.

In addition to Chapman's Peak and East Fort, the following trails are now also open: Trappies Kop, Elsies Peak, Lower Tokai, and Peers Cave.
"SANParks has confirmed with me that everything else remains closed. The whole of Upper Tokai, as well as Silvermine, Constantia Nek, above Boyes Drive, the Clovelly areas - they all remain closed until further notice."

SANParks says most boardwalks have burnt and they need to remove dangerous rails and pins on trails.
They've urged the public to stay away from the areas that are closed, for their own safety.
The fire is now contained and mopping up operations are underway.
