Former Steinhoff audit executive Hein Odendaal has been sentenced to a fine of R2 million or four years’ imprisonment by the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday.
This comes after he pleaded guilty to charges linked to the multimillion-rand Steinhoff accounting scandal.
His conviction stems from failing to report fraud involving fictitious income, which resulted in false and misleading audited financial statements.
Odendaal is the fifth person to be convicted in relation to the Steinhoff heist after surrendering to the Hawks in February last year.
The 68-year-old from Gauteng has also been handed an additional two-year prison sentence, which is wholly suspended for five years.
