The East London Magistrate’s Court found the EFF’s Julius Malema guilty in his firearm case.
Malema was on trial for firing shots into the air at a 2018 rally in Mdantsane in front of a crowd of thousands.
He was convicted under the Firearm Control Act of various charges, including the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The magistrate said that Malema ‘did himself no favours’ by evading questions on the stand that warranted replies.
“He was asked a question by the state prosecutor, and his response was ‘I am not the holy spirit, and I would not know.’”
