JOHANNESBURG - A 27-year-old man accused of killing six Soshanguve patrollers has abandoned his bail application at the Pretoria North Magistrates Court.
He faces multiple charges including six counts of murder, five of attempted murder and two of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
According to the charge sheet, the attack happened in the early hours of 22 March 2025 at the Marry Me informal settlement where it’s alleged that a group of 12 patrollers were ambushed by five armed men.

Four died at the scene, while two more succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
The accused was arrested two days later, following an intensive police investigation.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said the State would be seeking the harshest possible punishment
“The charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition and being illegal in the country that he previously appeared for on a separate matter were joined to the current case. After abandoning his formal bail application, the matter was postponed to 17 April 2025 for further investigations.”
