On Friday, the Camperdown Magistrates Court convicted Nhlanhla Hlongwa for the crime.
Mlaba was allegedly killed on the instructions of his cousin, Mzamo Mlaba, in what is believed to be the fight over land ownership.
Hlongwa implicated Mzamo, alleged to be the main mastermind.
The experienced team of police investigators in the PKTT has delivered yet another successful prosecution.
This time they managed to give closure to Mlaba’s family for his October 2021 murder.
One of the accused, Hlongwa, pleaded guilty and implicated Mzamo as the alleged mastermind.
Thembeka Nsimbi is the deceased’s daughter.
“We would like to thank the Political Killings Task Team for cracking this case before the challenges it faces now. We believe it wouldn’t have been cracked had it not been of the team.”
The family has also hailed State prosecutors Elvis Gcweka and Sanele Ntombela.
Mzamo, the main accused, is due to now stand trial alone in November.
