The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund has noted that the Milnerton High School assault incident is one of many violent cases playing out in schools across the country.
In its statement, the organisation said many bullying and assault cases go unreported or unnoticed.
Earlier this week, a video recording of the assault went viral, sparking widespread outrage.
The foundation’s CEO, Linda Ncube-Nkomo, has condemned the violent incident.
"Through its Child Safety and Protection Program, the fund advocates for strengthened child protection systems centred on the experiences of children and communities in some of South Africa's most violent geographies, and implements evidence-based violence prevention and response interventions that enhance access to psychosocial support and rehabilitation services for children.”
Human rights organisation Justice Desk Africa added its voice, condemning the incident through a protest staged outside the school on Thursday.
"We were there to support the learner, and also community members and even the parents to ensure that justice does prevail. We gathered outside to demand transparency, justice of the affected learner."
