Traver Brikkels has taken the local rugby scene by storm with his animated, uniquely Afrikaans commentary that’s part game analysis, part stand-up comedy, and pure heart.

His journey into commentary began in church and grew into a heartfelt expression of his love for rugby. 

Brikkels' vibrant and passionate style has quickly won over rugby fans across the Cape, who say he deserves to be heard on a bigger stage.

They have been urging SuperSport to offer him a contract.

Though he missed out on a professional commentary gig at SuperSport due to age limits (he’s 36, the cut-off is 35), he remains determined to share his infectious enthusiasm with a wider audience.

For now, he is happy to work at Midas in Caledon and take to the mic when the whistle goes.
