On 4 September 2025, Cape Town will host a landmark event that puts this discussion in the spotlight: the Mind Matters Summit, happening alongside Thrive by WHX at Cape Town's International Convention Centre (CTICC).

The Mind Matters Summit is designed to redefine mental wellness - with insights from neuroscientists, Olympians and wellness pioneers
This one-day summit will bring together over 1,500 attendees and a global lineup of thought leaders who are redefining mental resilience in life and work as mental health continues to make headlines in business, sports, and culture.
What to expect:
This isn’t just a summit. It’s a shift designed to reshape your mindset, boost your performance and tap into your resilience.
The event will feature top international speakers, including international bestselling author Mo Gawdat and neuroscientist Dr Tara Swart, among others.
Gawdat, a former Chief Business Officer of Google X and bestselling author of Solve for Happy, shares strategies for “Becoming Unstressable” in uncertain times.
Swart will explore the science of stress and neuroplasticity in high-performance environments.
Olympic gold medalist Tatjana Smith will also discuss mental training and vulnerability in elite sports, while legendary South African singer Lira returns to the stage with a powerful keynote on healing from her stroke and navigating adversity.
Together with James Paul Miller, CEO of Cipla Africa, and Maria Carpenter, Head of @multiplyrsa, this is a space for individuals and workplace leaders to access the tools, frameworks, and science-backed practices needed to build resilience, emotional clarity, and lasting change.
Additionally, Doctor Kamlen Pillay, surgeon and founder of @in.uwell, alsoinspires with his state-of-the-art, next-gen health and wellness hub.
Drawing on 40 years of science in positive psychology, along with the fast-emerging neuroscience, Andreea Vanacker and Christophe Fauconnier's Human Growth Code diagnostic tool offers a framework for tackling human challenges in organisations and on your own growth journey, too.
The summit will also feature expert panels and psychology-based wellness tools, with a follow-up immersive experience day for Gold ticket holders on 5 September.
