Developer Brendhan Kannemeyer announced that he would no longer move forward with the project, which raised concerns about noise levels, safety, and compatibility with Noordhoek’s rural character.
“Whilst I strongly believe that padel courts meet the criteria of providing services that Noordhoek residents want and need, it has become a controversial matter that has divided the community,” he said.
Instead, Kannemeyer said he will shift his focus to alternative improvements for the site, including expanded retail offerings, a restaurant, a wellness centre, and a small office park.
"Noordhoek – that is one engaged resident group. You can't do a thing without beady eyes on you."
