The Springbok jersey has a new look.

First National Bank (FNB) and Pick n Pay were recently announced as Tier One sponsors, taking over from MTN after the telecommunications giant’s eight-year sponsorship deal with the back-to-back World Champions concluded.

FNB has partnered with SA Rugby since 2017.

The agreement sees the FNB logo move from the shoulders of the Springboks to the front of the playing jersey, and onto the front of the men’s and women’s Sevens teams, and all age group teams.

It also marks the extension of their partnership with the Springbok Women’s team, having become their principal sponsor three years ago.

The FNB logo will be rolled out onto all national teams over the coming weeks, and will make its first appearance on the front of a Springbok Test match jersey when South Africa runs out against Italy in Pretoria on 5 July.

"It is an absolute honour and proud moment for us as a brand... we've all witnessed what this team has done in terms of just taking on two successful World Cups and essentially just established themselves as a brand, globally - so for us, this is just an absolute honour."
- Faye Mfikwe, FNB Chief Marketing Officer
"We are also the sole sponsor currently on the Springboks Women team, and we have a significant job to do as South African citizens and corporates to ensure that we are partnering with some of the talent to ensure that they are getting opportunities on global stages, and that we really are recognising their potential... so that is what this represents for us - it's about the talent that we have in South Africa to be recognised locally and globally and to impact their families, society, and to continue to drive the cohesion we celebrate when we see these teams play successfully."
- Faye Mfikwe, FNB Chief Marketing Officer
