President Cyril Ramaphosa has justified his decision not to publish the Madlanga Commission’s interim report.

Ramaphosa said the report, which he received in December, cannot be released to the public just yet because it may prejudice those who must still give evidence before the commission.

He said a special team will also focus on cases of those implicated by the Madlanga Commission who are in the public service.

"Now, beyond the referrals and recommendations that I have made public, it would be unfair to witnesses whose testimony is not complete or individuals about whom the commission has not made any findings to publicise the information at this stage," Ramaphosa said.

He noted that any publication of the full reports will be based on the advice that he receives from the commission.
