SPCA working to save animals stranded in flooded neighbourhoods across Cape Town

CAPE TOWN - With heavy rains pounding the Cape, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is in rescue mode, working to save animals stranded in flooded neighbourhoods across the city.
Roads, suburbs, informal settlements, and low-lying areas have been inundated, with bursting canals adding to the deluge.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA said many animals have been left exposed to the elements - drenched, freezing, and chained up in yards.
Spokesperson Belinda Abraham is appealing for donations of blankets, towels, and pet food.
“The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is in rescue mode. Our first responders are finding several animals chained, drenched, freezing, and without shelter in this weather.
“All these animals are on their way to the SPCA, but there will be more. We’ll be working throughout the night and we’re preparing for an influx of animals in need of care.”
