JOHANNESBURG - A 37-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Kuils River Magistrates Court on Monday.

The man is facing charges relating to the possession of an unlicenced firearm with ammunition and the manufacturing of drugs.

This after the SAPS provincial intelligence unit received information about a house that was being used to store drugs in Brackenfell.

The 37-year-old man was subsequently arrested inside the house in Maple Crescent at Vredekloof over the weekend.

The Western Cape's police spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie: "The members pounced on the identified address where they ensued with a search of the premises during which they discovered a hydroponic laboratory where large quantities of magic mushrooms and dagga were being cultivated. the members also discovered 123 rounds of ammunition and a firearm trigger mechanism and prohibited steroids on the premises."
