CAPE TOWN - Golden Arrow has confirmed an attack on a bus carrying passengers in the Driftsands area.
The incident happened at around 7pm on Tuesday.
At this stage, the motive for the attack is unclear but it appears to be linked to protest action in that area.
Golden Arrow’s Bronwen Dyke-Beyer: "At about 7 o'clock on Tuesday evening, a Golden Arrow bus carrying passengers in the Driftsands area was targeted by unknown assailants who pelted the oncoming bus with stones. Once the driver brought the bus to a halt, he & the passengers were forced to exit the bus. The perpetrators then set the bus on fire and it was completely gutted as a result. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and a case has been opened with SAPS."
