JOHANNESBURG - The legal matter involving boxing promoters and Minister of Sports Zizi Kodwa is now set to unfold away from the courts, with both parties agreeing to find an amicable solution.
In 2023, the National Professional Boxing Promoters' Association (NPBPA) took the minister to court over his appointment of a new Boxing South Africa (BSA) board, claiming he did not follow due process.

The legal tussle has resulted in, among others, the cancellation of some tournaments, and BSA operating without a board.
Kodwa outlined the decision to engage outside of court: "The matter in court now, it must stand down to allow us to engage, and I think both sides agree [that] the matter will stand down.
"As a matter of consequence of our engagement, it will come back as a resolution of the court in terms of what we agreed to. Obviously, we will do all this in the interest of boxing.”
