CAPE TOWN - Thirty-nine-year-old Christopher Jones has been reunited with his family after allegedly being abducted by a group of men in Malmesbury on Monday night.

Police have confirmed a second man aged 20 was also kidnapped by the same group of suspects, just minutes after Jones was taken.

Both men had been accused of burglary.

Jones's mother Cathy told Eyewitness News she witnessed her son being beaten up and bundled into a white Toyota Quantum after the suspects stormed her home in Chamberlain Street.

Police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie says while a case of kidnapping is still being investigated, Jones is now back with his family.

"It was established by the investigating officer that the 39-year-old managed to escape his kidnappers last night and found refuge at the Atlantis Police Station and was later reunited with his family."

Pojie said the 20-year-old man known only as Justin was also found safe.

"The 20-year-old was traced and found in hospital after allegedly suffering assault at the hands of the group of alleged kidnappers."

Pojie said detectives are pursuing all possible leads to find the suspects.
