John Maytham speaks to Rachel Kolisi.

Rachel Kolisi is back in Mzansi for the week to attend an event, "Finding the Light" at the Artscape in Cape Town from 17 to 21 April with a Gala evening on 18 April.

The Kolisi Foundation hosts the event in collaboration with "Finding the Light - an evening with musical theatre stars".

The star-studded production is set to marry London’s West End and South African musical theatre with Cape Town’s iconic Artscape Opera House stage to perform songs from shows including “Phantom of the Opera”, “Les Miserables”, “West Side Story”, “Company” and many more, with the exquisite on-stage accompaniment by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

"It's an incredible collaboration and the team is spectacular. It helps us share a different experience with people to give them something they didn't necessarily expect. The event has given us an opportunity to have an amazing night out with South Africans and friends and family."
Rachel Kolisi, CEO - The Kolisi Foundation

Kolisi says not only is this set to be an "amazing night out, it's also for a good cause" as all proceeds from the event will go to supporting projects headed by The Kolisi Foundation.

Kolisi adds that all money made from the event will be put back into communities with limited resources where infrastructure, gender based violence, sports and education, and food security are focused on.

The foundation represents Rachel and Siya's "obligation" to help the most vulnerable people in South Africa, thrive, explains Rachel.

"For us, we feels it's an obligation. Siya shares his story so openly with so many people but essentially, he is a product of philanthropy. There's no way he would've received his opportunity in rugby and be where he is today without people giving back and thinking of others within our country."

Kolisi also hopes that the message behind their foundation inspires South Africans to help each other by doing little things, daily.

"All of us can agree that the world is in complete chaos in a number of different aspects. Equally so, in South Africa, there's a lot that needs to be done here still. I think, if we all stop pointing fingers of whose got to do what and really just take it upon ourselves as individuals and understand that we all play a huge responsibility in how we want to see our county change and if we all do a little bit of something, things will change. If we choose to do one thing and impact one life and make one change on a daily basis then eventually things must change."

There are still come tickets left for the event, so get yours here if you're keen to have a lekker time for a good cause.

The team is warmed up and ready to welcome you for opening night this evening!
