DURBAN - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has reiterated calls for KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi to be deployed to the national office.
Party Leader Julius Malema made the remark during a community rally in Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.
Mkhwanazi has been lauded by some people for being proactive in the fight against crime.
Malema concluded his two-day election campaign trail in KZN on Friday ahead of the 29 May national and provincial polls.
Malema said if Mkhwanazi is hoisted to the national office, crime could be curbed in South Africa.
“General Mkhwanazi, commissioner of police here, that is the man we want in the whole of South Africa because he doesn't negotiate with criminals.”
Malema referred to an incident this week where KwaZulu-Natal police closed in on suspected cash-in-transit robbers.
The gang died during a shootout with police officers.
“Just yesterday [Thursday], he dropped four of them who were trying to commit cash-in-transit heists. Comrades, if you don't want to die, stop doing crime.”
