The African National Congress (ANC)’s sub-committee on peace and stability said it is worried about the infiltration of criminal elements within the country’s justice, criminal and security cluster.

Over the past two days, the committee has been deliberating on issues of crime and corruption in the country.

The deliberations have also reflected on the ongoing Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and the parliamentary ad-hoc committee, which are both looking at corruption within the justice sector.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ANC’s National Lekgotla at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, ANC sub-committee member Lindiwe Ntshalintshali, said the public has lost faith in law enforcement.

“Because where we are, our citizens and us as the ANC, we are worried about the infiltration into our Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) cluster. So that has been a matter of the commission to say how do we deal with it so people can still trust the police, justice system and everybody involved,” she said on Sunday.
