The Gauteng Education Transport Services has announced that the owner of the minibus taxi involved in a collision that killed 14 learners could have his operating license revoked.
Provincial Chairperson Matthews Mokhachane stated that the association is responsible for ensuring accountability for both the driver and the vehicle owner.
This follows the tragic accident where 14 learners lost their lives after the driver, Ayanda Dludla, attempted to overtake several vehicles and collided with a truck.
The driver is currently facing 14 counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder. Additionally, Dludla has been charged with driving without a valid permit.

Mokhachane confirmed that the vehicle owner will now undergo a formal disciplinary process. This action comes amid reports that Dludla had been previously flagged for poor driving habits.
"We have to take measures to make an example of him, one being probably to revoke his licence," Mokhachane said.
In the wake of the tragedy, the association committed to placing a stronger focus on road safety moving forward. Mokhachane emphasised that the organisation will work to ensure that all drivers strictly comply with road rules and undergo thorough vetting to prevent future loss of life.
