EFF slams the NHI Act in its current form

JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the signing of the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill into law is nothing more than a sham and an elections gimmick by the African National Congress (ANC) government.
President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the contentious bill into law two weeks ago, a move that has been met with mixed reactions as people question both the modality and funding of the NHI.
Ramaphosa said it would not be implemented immediately but would be rolled out in phases.
Malema’s party has rejected the NHI in its current form.
He told supporters at the EFF's Tshela Thupa rally in Polokwane that the ANC was playing with the feelings of citizens.
"We will introduce a national health care system where clinics operate 24/7, that will have ambulances, that will have nurses, that will have doctors and will ensure that those clinics do not close at 4 o'clock. This story that there are unemployed doctors will come to an end."
